Clothing Tax Records

November 28th, 2012

The tax season is almost here.   While re-organizing and cleaning out your closet (with or without my help) you can record your clothing deductions before sending them to charity.  Here is a process I utilize:  keep a tax record clothing deduction form attached to the inside closet area. Whenever you donate something, mark it down immediately on the form.  Keep it simple and user friendly. Click on the  Form Below and feel free to use.

Shapewear Tested

November 21st, 2012

Who dies to wriggle into their shapewear?  Not wearing it isn’t against the law, but what is are the awful panty-lines that show when your clothing is on.  Some women may choose to go commando (no underwear…yes you read it correctly) or have no idea what shape wear is.  Shapewear is actually an updated word for girdle.  It holds you in, smooths your lumps and bumps and make take a few inches off for the clothes you are wearing.

I put out a questionnaire as to what Shapewear women preferred.   While I had lots of feedback, one woman said she refused to wear shapewear any longer because she looked like a sausage.  I have to agree with her as this has happened to me, while one part of the body goes in, the other goes out.  So I took all feedback and checked it out.  I tried them on (with my underwear, incase you were curious).  Once I had them on I tested them  as I sat, stood, bent down and did a little dance.   The one that topped my list (one highly recommended by a client) is the TARGET store brand “Assets” made by Spanx.  I have to agree, the lower cost shapewear is just as good as the higher cost.  I’ve decided to start wearing the “Assets” Brand by Spanx.

Check out all the brands I tested below.  What’s your favorite?

Is there Money Hiding In Your Closet?

November 14th, 2012

“Bonnie, I’d LOVE to hire you, but I can’t possibly afford your services by the time I put money into my clothing.”   Luckily, I have a creative and analytical mind.   If you have scads, or just a few clothes in your closet you never wear I consider that you just threw your $money$ in the trash can.  Using my services you’ll be able to wear ALL clothing and everything will look good on you.   When I purchase an outfit for myself I calculate the price of the outfit and an approximation of how many times I can wear it and how many different ways I can wear it.  I then divide the price by the wearable times and this gives me a “price per item”.   It keeps you from grabbing anything because it’s there, not because it’s on sale.

Also if you shop via computer and return clothes after trying them on, consider how much of your important time it takes to look at all the websites, the cost of shipping (if any), gas cost and your time to return the clothing you don’t want or how much you’ve spent and doesn’t look good on you, but you hate returning items because of the hassle.

Money spent on my services can get you the most for your dollar. Unlike stores, I’m honest about what looks good on you because I don’t earn a commission or get a kickback.  Plus you don’t have to shop one store, you can look at several and find great bargains and styles and unique clothing for who you are.

Feel free to use the the following chart I created in order for you to look in your closet and see if you can afford not to use me.

ABOUT FACE

November 7th, 2012

Some men feel it’s difficult to have a ‘style’ because there simply aren’t as many options for men as there are for women.  Lucky facial hair has made a comeback.  And the cool thing is that by altering your facial hair, you can emphasize (or distract from) facial features.

BUT WAIT!  Before you start growing mutton chops, take a good look at your face.  Ask yourself and someone you know who can be honest.  What shape is your face?  How much hair will you be able to grow?  Does your hair grow sparse in certain areas?  Will a beard age you or give you a distinguished look?  Once you feel like you’re in touch with your face and the hair that grows on it…give it a shot!  No worries if you mess up…it’s just hair.  It will always grow back. Check out this AskMen.com article for more info on  Face Shapes for Beards
